Terry Wolff's Digital Gallery

Digitally altered self portrait at Taos Pueblo, 1994

During the later part of the 1980's I became interested in the use of the computer as a tool of expression. Expression in both the form of the written word and as an instrument of visual creation. So started my quest to use this medium as a vehicle of creating art images.

I am using this medium as a means to both show this work and to make it available for purchase to any of you who may be interested.

The computer which I started on was the Amiga 1000. I still use Amiga's (A3000 and the A2000) along with "Hal 2001" which is a Micron PC.

Please continue to see the work!

Collection A

This first collection of images, are fish which I painted in the Amiga computer using several paint programs including Deluxe Paint, Photon Paint, and Digi Paint.

All these works started in the computer, The final works are offered as photographs.

Collection B

This collection on images are part of works I showed in Taos, 1994. This was the first time I actually felt I had achieved great versatility with the medium. Here I combined video and photo images and did all the art processing in the computer. The programs used were Adpro, Digiview, Image Master, Light 24, and Digi Paint.

These works are available as either limited edition Paint Jet prints or as photographic images.

Collection C

This collection consist of images from Taos which I either videoed or photographed. The images which you see here are a representation of final works. These images are directly from my computer files, the actual completed pieces go through various stages of real world color manipulations with acrylics.

The images were than scanned or freeze framed from a video camera into the Amiga. Here, I worked on them by using a combination image processors (AdPro, DCTV Paint, and Image Master) and paint programs (Deluxe Paint, Light 24, and Brilliant Paint). This brings us to the point at which you are looking at them now.

At this point I printed them using a HP Paint Jet (a rather rare piece of equipment). They were all printed by making four passes through the printer. Each pass I used a different print filter in AdPro with the Super DJC2 printer driver.

The work was than bonded to hardboard and the printer inks combined with acrylic paints to form the completed work.

These Works are framed in rustic wood frames.

Today

I still although I still use one of my Amigas and the old Paint Jet, but mostly rely on newer technology.  This includes PCs, cutting edge software (such as Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Illustrator, Corel Draw, TrueSpace, and Deep Paint to mention a few), digital cameras, and an Epson Stylus printer.

I must admit, that even with all the new technology and advances on the PC and Mac platforms, I still haven't found a match for programs on the Amiga such ad Deluxe Paint, AdPro, and DCTV Paint.  Makes me wonder why the Amiga newer really took off.
